Send your views, comments or criticisms to: MIR, 3/13 Hepscott Dear MIR, In MIR issue No.51, May/June 1993, you included an article, The Korean miracle ends' by a Korean activist, Kim. I read this with some interest as it is difficult to find very much information about events in Korea. There did seem to be one or two inaccuracies in the article which I should like to point out. Firstly, the 'Chuje' philosophy mentioned is normally referred to as the Juche set of ideas as originally developed by Kim Il Sung. Perhaps the mispelling Dear comrades, I would like to appeal for more clearly explained and presented material on issues related to attacks on single parent families and on crime and the 'decaying social fabric.
Although the recent MIR 'Nature or Nurture' article was an excellent, probably the first, effort to look behind these issues, I think the individual issues have to be examined theoretically. This has become very important as the ruling class are now, through the media, able to 'float' reactionary ideas, call for a 'debate, ie ask for support from Labour on the fundamental points, and then adopt them as "trueisms'. The fall of left reformism has left no other force but ourselves to oppose this reactionary drift.

We do need articles in the MIR, like the one on SATs, which look at 'in-the-news' issues together with items of theory relating to our campaigns, as well as historical, international, scientific, artistic and maybe even some off the wall' items.
